GOODBYE 2012!

December 31, New Years Eve.....

The end of a great year and tomorrow the beginning of ????? ....Hopefully a greater year! We are in Santa Rosa, California tonight.....on our way to San Francisco tomorrow. We have traveled down the California coast thru many small towns and a very crooked, curvy highway. Hwy 101 has gorgeous scenery but is slow-moving. Today we drove through the Redwoods ....saw a gazillion huge trees and later thru the wine country getting to Santa Rosa. It has been chilly....even down to freezing most nights.

We may stay here in Santa Rosa and drive into San Francisco to see the sights for the next couple of days. It's easier than trying to manuever Ethel and towing Hilda through the city and both of us having heart failure! Last night we stayed in Fortuna and met a nice couple from Portland heading to Florida. They planned to get to Pacifica tonight, south San Francisco to an RV park on the ocean. We called for a reservation and they are full until Wednesday. Never know about us .... we may head there Wednesday, otherwise will head east to I-5 and hot-trot ourselves to Yuma!

Tonight we will have our crab feed with a salad and a bottle of champagne for our New Years Eve celebration here in our little playhouse.....and probably be in bed sound asleep before midnight! So HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone! May 2013 bring in every wish you can think of!

I am trying to download pictures...so far....no luck. Will keep trying......

Drive safe tonight. Call for a ride home if you need it......I want you alive and well to keep up with our adventure!!

Our adventure has begun!

December 29th

Finally! The big day has arrived and we are on the road for our 4 month adventure! We left Olympia on Friday, the 28th, and stopped in Portland for a few hours.  Friends  met us and we all went over to visit with Buster and Tom's boss they had while working with BMS. Bob is in an assisted living facility and is always so enjoyable to stop and visit with! After having late lunch we went on to Salem, OR and spent our first night in a very nice RV Park. We would recommend Phoenix RV Park to any of you who are traveling in your RV. We finally decided to drive down along the OR and CA coasts (Hwy 101) instead of taking I-5. This morning we drove west to Lincoln City,  puttered along the coast highway and only went about 150 miles today! We stopped along the ocean beaches to have lunch and enjoyed watching the crushing waves. The sea looked just like whipped cream. It was a beautiful day with SUNSHINE and we had to wear our SUNGLASSES! Washington folks, did you read that??!! ha ha. Tonight we are in North Bend/Coos Bay, OR in a casino RV park. We visited the casino but didn't leave any money there, didn't win any either! Tomorrow we will go on into California.......lots to see along the way.

Everything is going well .... so far. Our car (Hilda the Honda) is towing perfectly. Buster has figured out how to fix all the normal little problems that arise with Ethel, our motorhome....like "how come there isn't water coming out of the faucets?" We were hooked to city water......????? "Why is the hot water turning cold and then hot again?" He figured it out! I knew he'd worked for a plumber for a reason.......

Goodnight.....!! :-)

December 11, 2012

Hello everyone!

My friend, Jane, has been helping me set up a blog. We will see if this works! Buster and I are leaving for a winter trip a few days before January 1, 2013. We are heading south to Yuma, AZ for a few weeks, then over into NM to explore and plan to spend most of our time in Texas. We won’t be home until around May 1. More info later!
