December 29th
Finally! The big day has arrived and we are on the road for our 4 month adventure! We left Olympia on Friday, the 28th, and stopped in Portland for a few hours. Friends met us and we all went over to visit with Buster and Tom's boss they had while working with BMS. Bob is in an assisted living facility and is always so enjoyable to stop and visit with! After having late lunch we went on to Salem, OR and spent our first night in a very nice RV Park. We would recommend Phoenix RV Park to any of you who are traveling in your RV. We finally decided to drive down along the OR and CA coasts (Hwy 101) instead of taking I-5. This morning we drove west to Lincoln City, puttered along the coast highway and only went about 150 miles today! We stopped along the ocean beaches to have lunch and enjoyed watching the crushing waves. The sea looked just like whipped cream. It was a beautiful day with SUNSHINE and we had to wear our SUNGLASSES! Washington folks, did you read that??!! ha ha. Tonight we are in North Bend/Coos Bay, OR in a casino RV park. We visited the casino but didn't leave any money there, didn't win any either! Tomorrow we will go on into California.......lots to see along the way.
Everything is going well .... so far. Our car (Hilda the Honda) is towing perfectly. Buster has figured out how to fix all the normal little problems that arise with Ethel, our motorhome....like "how come there isn't water coming out of the faucets?" We were hooked to city water......????? "Why is the hot water turning cold and then hot again?" He figured it out! I knew he'd worked for a plumber for a reason.......
Goodnight.....!! :-)
