FINALLY!! YUMA!!!
Here we are in Yuma, AZ. It is Friday, January 4 (?) and we've been traveling for a week. Time to settle in and be lazy for awhile. We will probably stay here for three or four weeks. It hasn't been a heat-wave here. Hopefully weather will warm up soon!
We left Santa Rosa Wednesday morning and traveled down I-5 to Bakersfield. After leaving Oakland area there's not much to see or talk about until Bakersfield. Dry, desolate, nothing! Bet we could count the sprigs of grass on one hand. This was a long day traveling. It was dark when we got into our RV Park in Bakersfield so we cooked up a quick bowl of soup and hit the hay. On Wednesday it was a pretty drive from Bakersfield to Palm Springs. We stayed in Palm Springs last night. What a beautiful city! Palm trees line the streets and lots of lights and beautiful businesses. Reminds me of a little Vegas without all the casinos! Last night was their weekly Street Fair -- lots of crafts, food, art, miscellaneous and lots of people! Oh, and dogs. Seems like everyone owns a dog! We also saw a pet pig.....
While in Fortuna, CA the other day we met a couple from Portland. In visiting with them, they had also stayed at the same RV Park where we stayed in Coos Bay, OR. They were heading to San Francisco and on down the coast and told us of a nice RV park right on the ocean at San Fran. We called but it was full. That's when we stayed in Santa Rosa for 2 nights. Then on to Bakersfield and Palm Springs. This morning I started out for a walk in our Park and lo and behold there they were!! They were parked right next door to us! He was looking for his dog and and we were both so surprised to see each other! Buster came along and we had a good visit again. They drove down the CA coast to LA area and are heading to New Orleans but plan to come thru Yuma in a week. They will call us then. How ironic to meet them, meet up with them again and be next door! Small world!
Tomorrow we will go to the big open flea market and the AZ market. There are more interesting items at these markets than I can begin to tell you about!! Hopefully I can post my "big buys" tomorrow night!
One of these soon days I plan to get my sewing machine out! Yuma has 2-3 nice quilt shops so will have to go visit them soon.
The first picture is of us all hooked up and ready to go from home!
2nd picture is at Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco.
I think I've figured out how to download pictures so will do more next time! Goodnight. Susan

Wonderful job! I think I will get ahold of my Victor neighbors that stay in Yuma in the winter and maybe hook up and go see them for a while. It is just so cold here. The quilt shops and markets sound like something I just "have" to check out.
ReplyDeleteYou are doing such a wonderful job with this blog. I'm so proud of you.
